Fear

Image
I fear that I am not strong enough I fear that I am not doing enough I fear that I am not working hard enough or pushing myself enough. I fear that I am too weak. I fear that I will be too slow.  I fear that the moment will come and I won’t be ready. But  That’s why we practice. That’s why we train. That's why we will push ourselves. That’s why we don’t give up. That’s why exhaustion can not be the limit. That’s why we can not let fear win. That’s why we need to be ready.  Push yourself to push away the fears. Push yourself to push away the doubts. Push yourself toward all of your goals, your wants and dreams.

Motivation: Affirmation and Motivation

Image
If words speak to you Say the words out loud. Over and over again.  Make them your mantra. Let the words live inside of you. Let them surround you. Let them become a part of your spirit. Let them ring out into the universe. Trust yourself and the process. Trust that you are on the right path.  Trust that this is a part of the process.  Trust that hard work pays off.  Trust that you are the right person for the job. Work today to make tomorrow easier.  Today is within our capabilities. We can control the time we spend today. We can control the efforts that we give today. We can control the things that we accomplish today. All of this makes tomorrow much easier. Be happy in your efforts. If you are doing all you can and the best you can, then celebrate your strength, your endurance and your victories.

What is Creativity?

Image
Creativity is a spark, it’s the creation of ideas and then bringing them to life. Creativity is the ability to think in new and imaginative ways, coming up with original ideas, solutions, or expressions. It’s pen to paper or brush to canvas or hands in the dirt. It’s a “look what I made!” when there was no expectation. It involves thinking beyond the usual. Being creative allows individuals to see possibilities, solve problems innovatively, and bring fresh perspectives to various aspects of life. Understanding Creativity Creativity is the ability to think beyond the conventional. To stare at nothing and create something.  Whether we use creativity to foster innovation or find uniqueness, creativity is a talent that is deeply revered. As our creativity thrives we find connections between the abstract, we find the ability to draw a line between two separate ideas and to create something new entirely. This is what it makes it all special. This is the magic in creativity.   T...

Motivation: Work, A Four Letter Word

Image
Many people see work as a four letter word. A curse word. Shit! Damn! Fuck! Work? Are they all swear words??? The truth: Life is work Love is work Family is work Passion is work Pride comes from work Strength comes from work Perfection comes from work If you want to have great things in life you have to work hard for them. To acquire them. To maintain them.  You have to work hard at raising your children in order to have kind hearted and strong children. To have a good, solid and loving relationship you will have to work hard at it, maintaining it, and growing it. You have to work hard to get fit. You have to work hard to grow your business.  You have to work for new opportunities.  You have to work to hit a goal, raise the bar and win the race. Work is not pain. Work is not a form of oppression. Work teaches us grit, tenacity, patience and focus.  Work "IS" a four letter word.  The same way that love, hope, gift, zeal, gain, grow, rise and  “Fuck (or) Yeah...

Defeating “Mehh”: Unleashing Creativity No Matter What

Image
I go through this periodically. Where I just don’t want to write. I don’t want to think. I don’t want to be creative. It feels as though the weather or my sleep schedule has thrown me into days upon days of “mehhh”. Everyone goes through this. It’s a regular cycle of life that has to do with what you’re eating, or what you’re not. What you’re doing, or what you aren’t. And it all comes down to one important fact. That if you want to get the work done, you have to do the work.  Embracing the Resistance:  The first step in overcoming a lack of energy is acknowledging it. Accept that resistance is a natural part of the creative process. Energy ebbs and flows and instead of viewing it as a hindrance, see it as a signal you may need to take a break or you may need a shift in perspective. Understanding the Source:  Think about the possible sources of your resistance. Is it burnout, lack of inspiration, or something external like stress or a lack of sleep? Identifying the root c...

Progress Is Progress

Image
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up in the quest for monumental achievements, often overlooking the significance of incremental progress. Whether you're on a personal development journey or navigating other personal challenges, it's crucial to recognize that every step forward, no matter how small, is a testament to your commitment and effort.  Progress Takes Time Progress is not always immediately visible. A lack of immediate results can feel like failure. In a world that often prioritizes instant gratification, the absence of quick, noticeable outcomes can lead to a feeling of stagnation. It's important to recognize that some achievements take time. Small Wins Are Still Wins Sometimes, we become so fixated on major milestones that we overlook the significance of small victories. Celebrating even minor achievements is essential for maintaining motivation and a positive mindset. Goals Are Important Without clear, measurable goals, i...

Everyone Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth.

Image
Everyone Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth.     -  Mike Tyson Mike Tyson once delivered a nugget of wisdom that extends far beyond the confines of the ring: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." This powerful quote, while rooted in the sport, unveils a universal truth about facing unexpected challenges, how we approach life, personal development, relationships, and the pursuit of opportunities. The Illusion of Control: Tyson's quote sheds light on the illusion of control that often permeates our lives. Many of us meticulously plan our days, months, or even years, convinced that we have everything figured out. However, life's unpredictable twists and turns can feel like a sudden punch, shattering our carefully crafted plans. Recognizing and embracing the lack of absolute control is the first step towards cultivating resilience. Adaptability and Flexibility: When confronted with unforeseen challenges, the ability to adapt and be flexi...

Will Power Vs Purpose

Image
It’s been said that the “Power of Will” is the greatest power that any man can have. It’s the power to move mountains or to show up day in and day out. Purpose on the other hand is a deep seeded drive, it is our “Why?” But what is the difference between willpower and purpose?  Will power is about self control and discipline. It is a mental skill set that manages and regulates needs and emotions. It can take real conscious efforts to overcome our immediate desires and do what we feel needs to be done. Will power will make you show up at the gym or turn on your computer when you’re exhausted at the end of the day. Purpose is a deeper all encompassing reason for your pursuit of specific goals. It’s a direction, a reason for being. It’s the reason you pour your heart into something even when you’re exhausted. Willpower is often task-specific, dealing with moment-to-moment decisions and the ability to resist immediate temptations.  Purpose is a broader and more overarching life...

The Power of "Yet!"

Image
As I sifted through my 4 year old’s school projects, I stumbled upon a piece of classwork, full of bright colors, stick figures and backward letters. What caught my eye even more was the title proudly displayed at the top of the page: "The Power of Yet!" From Sesame Street to Ted Talks “yet” is a magical world that has the power to transform people of all ages. The power of "yet" encourages a shift in perspective. "I can't do this… Yet!" opens the door to a world of possibilities, growth, and the understanding that progress is a journey, not an instant destination. As adults, we often face challenges and setbacks in various aspects of life, whether it's at work, in personal relationships, or in pursuing our dreams. The Power of Yet is a reminder that every stumbling block is just a stepping stone toward future success.

Focus

Image
I was driving in the car this morning and as I was cruising along the 101 Freeway. I started thinking about the day I was going to have and how I needed to focus. I can have a hard time focusing with the distractions of an office; with phone calls and emails and customers walking in.  As I was thinking about that I passed by a field that was being cleared by goats.  How long are the goats there? Are they for rent? Does the field owner own them? Are there any baby goats out there? Baby goats are called kids. Why kids? Do they ever escape? What was I thinking about again? Oh yeah. Focus. Focus is tough for anyone. Our minds ricochet from this idea to that, bouncing from memories to tasks and random thoughts. In order to be successful we need to be able to focus all of our strength. All of our energy. Take all that we can and put it into a single task.  For maximum productivity, we need to deeply focus.  Here are some key points on focus. 1. Breath Awareness: Deep, inte...
