Don't Be Embarrassed
I even took a pair of push up handles to work so that in a free moment I can sneak over to the other side of the store that I work in and get a set in. A fast set of squats or dips or whatever I can squeeze into a couple of minutes here or there.
I listen carefully to make sure that no one is around and I do my reps. 1, 2, 3, I pause. Waiting, listening to the silence. Is someone coming I ask myself? If someone did come around the corner, it might be awkward for sure, but I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm just... Embarrassed.
Why am I embarrassed to be attempting to work out in this quiet moment of mine? Why am I so worried about judgement? For many of us, we are embarrassed by the process, we don't want someone to question our motives or our actions or our need to do the thing we are doing.
We should never be embarrassed of self improvement. We should own the path towards better. If someone asks why? Tell them. If someone snickers at a book you're reading or the fact that you choose to do some push ups, then they don't understand what you are trying to achieve. Only you understand your motives.
Be proud of your efforts. Be proud of your accomplishments. Sweat is a badge of honor. The tittle of a book on your desk shows where you're trying to go in life. Do not care about the judgement of those that don't live in your shoes.
Keep working hard, follow your passions and keep improving. Above all. Don't be embarrassed.
