Attention Creation
I watched a video the other day that said attention is the newest form of currency. That grabbing someone else’s attention was worth more than money or your time because you were capturing “Their” time. And then I walked into a grocery store. Upon entering the grocery store, I encountered vibrant displays of beers in display in the fridge. The array of colors, diverse packaging, and assorted characters, each with artistic and sometimes abstract elements, had my attention. I stood looking over the selection. It was then that it struck me that every detail was meticulously designed, all in a collective effort to vie for my attention with the ultimate goal of enticing me to make a purchase. As I walked through the store towards the counter I looked at the bags of chips. They were lined up the same way. The meats in the butcher's display were all lined up in the window for me to see. Everything was vying for my attention. For the attention of their audience. But this...
